Harvest-Your-Own
Strawberries
Strawberry
harvest begins in early June and picking continues through
mid-July. Hours are variable depending on weather and picking
conditions.
Please
call Farmer Jones at (203) 929-8425
for the latest Crop Report before heading off to the fields.
During
Strawberry Season, check our Picking
Conditions for details.
Come
enjoy our sweet, fresh, luscious, sun ripened strawberries!
Strawberries are the first fruits of the summer and the season
lasts only three to four short weeks. Strawberries are very
nutritious, easy to freeze, and great for pies, shortcake,
daiquiris, jams or fresh eating. See our great recipes.
Before
you head out to the farm, we like to remind our visitors that
harvesting strawberries can be a physically demanding activity.
Please come suitably attired, with appropriate footgear. The
Very Merry Berry Ferry will deliver you to the field, but
be prepared to walk to where the best picking is in the field.
Bring a hat and sunscreen for the sunny days. Many visitors
also bring a bottle of drinking water to sip on while they
pick. The
farm does provide water, but a personal container is recommended.
Children are welcome
in the strawberry field under parental supervision, provided
they act responsibly and follow the picking guidelines.
Our
strawberries are sold by the pound. The farm provides free
picking containers, boxes, and our scales are set back to
the weight of the box. A 30-cent credit is given to those
who recycle their Jones Family Farms berry box.
